Why convert
MKV — a container for films and series that holds several audio tracks and subtitles. As a GIF the clip plays by itself, silently, in any chat, doc or web page.
What changes in the file
Sound is dropped, 256 colours remain, and the file is heavier than a video of the same length.
Which settings to pick
Trim the clip to a few seconds; width 480 at 15 frames gives smooth motion at a sensible size.
