Why convert
MPEG — the DVD and old camcorder format that DVD players understand. AVI — an old Windows format, found in camera footage and films from the 2000s.
What changes in the file
The video is re-encoded; at High quality the difference is not visible. One video and one audio track are carried over; subtitles and chapters are not. AVI uses an old codec, so at the same quality the file is larger than MP4.
Which settings to pick
If the file has to fit a limit, set File size: the quality is chosen for you. For messengers choose Smaller file and 720p; for editing keep High and the original height.
