Why convert
AVI — an old Windows format, found in camera footage and films from the 2000s. When you only need the sound from AVI: music, a lecture or a podcast to listen to without a screen. MP3 — audio that plays everywhere: in the car, on speakers, in any player.
What changes in the file
The picture is dropped and the first audio track is kept. The sound is encoded once more, so keep the bitrate at least as high as the original.
Which settings to pick
Use 256–320 kbit/s for music; 128 is enough for speech.
