Why convert
Old camera recordings and films in AVI won't open on phones or in browsers. MP4 brings them back and makes them smaller.
What changes in the file
The video is re-encoded with a modern codec; the file usually shrinks two to three times with no visible loss. Interlaced AVI may show combing on fast motion.
Which settings to pick
Old footage is often low resolution, so keep the frame height at Original: upscaling adds nothing. High quality keeps what little detail there is.
