Why convert
MP4 — the most compatible video format: plays on any phone, browser and TV. MKV — a container for films and series that holds several audio tracks and subtitles. Use it when a program or device asks for MKV specifically.
What changes in the file
The video is re-encoded; at High quality the difference is not visible. One video and one audio track are carried over; subtitles and chapters are not.
Which settings to pick
If the file has to fit a limit, set File size: the quality is chosen for you. For messengers choose Smaller file and 720p; for editing keep High and the original height.
