Why convert
When you only need the sound from a video: a song from a music video, a lecture or a podcast to listen to on the go.
What changes in the file
The picture is dropped and the first audio track is kept. The sound is encoded a second time, but at 192 kbit/s and above the difference is rarely audible.
Which settings to pick
Use 256 or 320 kbit/s for music; 128 is enough for speech. If you need one part only, set the start and end under Trim instead of cutting it later.
